22 Lazy

I had a student that failed his take home midterm. I wrote: “It would have helped if you had read the books.” He had used an American novel to illustrate British imperialism. In the last week of the semester, he managed to top this performance by realizing that he had passed this class before with a higher grade. His constant lateness and unwillingness to read the books was causing him to have a low grade in the class. I asked him why it took so long for him to make this realization. He responded that I taught in such a different way because I used different books he did not realize that this was the same subject class!
